Effective 5 July 2026
Yalla Focus is built local-first: your data belongs to you and lives on your device. We do not run analytics, we do not show ads, and we do not sell or share data with anyone. This page explains, plainly, everything the app does with data.
Your tasks, focus sessions, streaks, courses, notes, links, flashcards, schedule, garden, and settings are stored on your device. The optional backup file (Settings → Data & backup) is a JSON file that you export and keep wherever you choose. We never receive a copy.
If you are signed into iCloud, the app mirrors your data to your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit) so it syncs across your devices and survives reinstalls. This data is stored in your own iCloud account under Apple's security and privacy terms. We have no server of our own and no ability to read your iCloud data. You can disable this per-app in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → iCloud.
The optional app-blocking feature uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. Your selection of apps to block is an opaque token that never leaves your device — neither we nor Apple's API tell us which apps you picked.
If you create or join a study room, the app signs in anonymously to Firebase (a Google Cloud service) and shares only: the room code, the first name you typed, and your focus/presence status while you are in the room. This is visible to the people in your room and is used for nothing else. Room presence data is transient. If you never use study rooms, nothing is ever sent to Firebase.
Yalla Pro purchases and subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details.
All notifications are scheduled locally on your device (session and break endings). There is no push-marketing infrastructure.
None. The app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no trackers. The App Store's privacy label for Yalla Focus reflects this.
Settings → Data & backup → "Clear all data" erases everything on the device. To remove iCloud copies, delete the app's data in iOS Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. Leaving a study room removes your presence from it.
